I always forget how much I enjoy the Discworld books – or, okay, specifically the Discworld books featuring Watch Commander Sam Vimes, because all the others are a lot less entertaining.

For those unfamiliar, the Discworld books are fantasy, it’s true. And ridiculous. But more accurately, they are satirical, and thus they appeal to me on multiple levels. Ankh-Morpork, the major city, is Mostly London, with a splash of Generalized Metropolis for flavor. All of the stories set outside Ankh-Morpork can get a little tiresome, but those set within the city bounds are hilarious.

Which is to say, I just read Nightwatch today, and it was fantastic.
