I have mixed feelings about not being a JET. I mean, JETs get paid more. On the other hand, they have to work in August. Most importantly, they have to bow to the whims of their teachers a lot more than I do – I have my company to run interference, to translate, to say “No, you may not ask her to stay late, no, you may not ask her to come in on Saturday, no, she can’t teach six classes a day every week day. You must give her break periods at school, you must allow her time to plan classes if you want her to teach classes and you should consider sending her home if there will be no classes all day or if nothing is happening after lunch.”

And yet, the JETs have a theme song, a theme song about their awesome-ness, and Interac really, really doesn’t.
